The Warwick Mauritian GamesOver the years, the Warwick Mauritian Games grew to become one of the best mauritian students-gathering in the UK. A one-off annual event, where the Warwick Mauritian Community welcome all the students, member of any Mauritian Society in any UK universities, to its heartful home, The University of Warwick. The Warwick Mauritian Games bring together students from different UK universities to compete in 3 epic challenges namely:
The WMG celebrates the richness of the Mauritian culture, while at the same time promoting the sportsmanship of participating students. Indeed, figures speak for themselves- more than 250 students attend the Games annually from UK universities: The University of Manchester, The University of Liverpool, LSE, City University, The University of Kent, UCL, The University of Nottingham, Bristol, Queenmary University, and many others. The University that outstands in most disciplines, earning most points, is claimed The Warwick Games Champions. Some of the past winners include The University of Kent, The University of Manchester and current Warwick Games Champions (2013), The University of Warwick. During the competition, the Warwick Mauritian Society caters for the needs of all its guests and provides free lunch and drinks. The whole Warwick Mauritian Community is at the disposal of each and everyone to make it a day to remember for all mauritians in the UK. This one-day event ends with a 'Grand Dinner' where it is a unique opportunity to reward the atheletes / Universities who shown more determination, hardwork and fairplay during the Games. The night then ends with a trip to one of the famous Clubs in Coventry/ Leamington Spa. Every year organising the Warwick Games is a major challenge for the Warwick Mauritian Executive Commitee but with the help of our Sponsors, Warwick Student Union, Warwick Sports, Warwick International Office and last but not the least, Members of the Warwick Mauritian Society, to whom we are very grateful, we are always able to provide an unforgettable Warwick Mauritian Games. Undoubtedly, for many years to come, this incredible and promising sporting mauritian event will remain the highlight of the academic year for the Warwick Mauritian Society. |
